Songs for Camp

The songs are in - mostly found by me. 'Tong hua' isn't in the list - sorry Milli, I saw it after I sent the file out - and we still need more Mandarin Pop songs.

Here's what we have, though. Download it to have a look-see, and keep it as a back-up just in case anyone needs to print anything.

Help Needed

Got a few words from Jimmy, and it's nothing pretty.

Judging by the profiles of the people signing up, almost none of them can play an instrument.

Scream.

But we can't turn our customers away.

So, here's the Emergency Contingency Plan that we MUST put into action:

- Compile a list of songs that are popular/catchy, can be played by a band, and contain only 3 chords, with the maximum of 4 chords.
NOTE: We must consider all genres. So far, I've looked into Maroon 5's 'She Will Be Loved', Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars', and One Republic's 'Apologize' (but the chords are hard to play). We need more pop: Mandarin Pop, J Pop even, K Pop if anyone's up to it, and some of the English Pop side that I may not be familiar with.

- For every song, provide chord charts, score and lyrics.

- Prepare the backup band that will play behind the 'band' if need be. Most likely MadHatter (as Mandric was with me and Jimmy spoke to him too) AND we may need to pull in DMATers to help us. (CCA points!) I foresee that this will have to be implemented, as there will be groups of 5 singers and no band.


I can't do this on my own. It's a LOT of work. So, it's time to distribute the workload!

Mandric will help us, as it's his band that may help us out. Vera, we need to find people to just get the songs and rake up existing chord charts, scores and so on and so forth. Anyone that has music scores, charts, leadsheets, whatever, we need to find them.

But, two people aren't enough. We need more people - not necessarily people involved with the camp - to help us. And maybe give a food voucher or something as a reward (XD).


Helphelphelp, it's only 3 weeks away!

Meeting with Jimmy on Wed 12pm

Just a few things to update:

1. We shouldn't have any problems getting CCA points for helpers. Number of points depends on the number of hours helped out. Zaki, please send me the student ID (admin number), full name as well as the number of hours for helpers. Try to get back to me by Monday? Committee members can be given points too! :)

2. In regards of putting up posters in our own Poly, we have to go to each school to ask them for permission (eg. DMIT, SD, SB). Sly will settle SD since it's his sch. The rest, we'll have to do. Targetting to complete this by Wed latest.

3. No sponsors have replied.

4. Mei Poh to give Jimmy a concrete program by next week, with planning for talentime schedule and when KKJ as well as Madhatter will play. Mei Poh, please let me scan through by Tuesday. Thanks.

5. We have to do a TV interview next wed for promotion also. Details will be given nearer to the date. It should be after the meeting. I am looking at Milli and Zaki to be with me for the interview. They need the rockers vibe people. I just got to know this today.

6. Last one, please update me with what you have done for promotions or anything you've done for the past week. I need to update Jimmy with our progress. I am looking at sending him an email latest by tml night, so you know your deadline huh... =P

Meeting minutes

1. Contact independent schools and ITEs (name list to be out by tml - Vera)

2. Put our posters and leaflets at music stores (By Left has agreed, other store names to be out by tml - Pei Ling)

3. Put our posters and leaflets at jamming studios (names to be out by tml - Zaki, Milli)

4. Contacting friends, friends' friends. (everyone pls help out)

5. Messaging all the members of music groups found on facebook. (Everyone pls help out whenever you can, update the blog whenever you contact a group so that we will not contact the group again)

Meeting with Jimmy

• Confirmed meeting with Jimmy every Wed at 12pm. Meet outside his office.
• we can get the school to help us print leaflets and posters, just need to give them the soft copy (Sylvester to follow up)
• Possibility of combining our last performing day with Carmen's concert event. Still in the process of discussing (Vera to follow up)
• Detailed report of marketing process - schools we've contacted and the results (Vera)
• Schools that we are targetting next (Vera by today)
• Contacts for schools (Mei Poh to give to Vera)
• Names of sponsors that we need to look for (Vera by today)
• Confirmed venues - logistics (Vera by today)

Jimmy will tell us about the ETDF Seed fund on next wed meeting. We might be able to get a $3000 if we have a very good business report.

Things that are first on list now:

1. Date of camp (also dependent on carmen now)
2. Price of camp
3. Also need you guys to help call up your respective schools to check on the progress. we've got to push the marketing.

Zaki, can you arrange a meeting with every committee in? Also a meeting with the facilitators. Any day before the meeting with Jimmy on Wed next week.
